Making Most out of Tableau - How to start working with Tableau

You got the software and now wondering what to do with that?
Where do I start?
Where do I get data?

Fret not! perseverance is the key.
No! Not 100% true. You need a learning pathway to start.

So where should I start? I read a lot of blogs and forums about this and unanimously, everyone said Tableau website resource.

Tableau Training and Tutorial are really helpful to give you an Idea of how to use it to do make an interactive chart but If you are brand new to the field of Business Analytics, you would need some background to understand the basics of dimensions, measure, continuous, discrete, joins, unions.
In fact, I would highly recommend you to have a crash course on that if you think you have a vague idea of those. The reason, why I said that is because unless you know the basics, you would not be able to truly appreciate the capability of Tableau.

Below are the steps I would suggest you follow
1. Finish up your training from Tableau Training and Tutorial. Practice as you complete the course.
2. Join Tableau community
3. Create Tableau Public profile. Upload all your completed visualization here and share with others for fun. You can follow some of the best Tableau developers here and you can download their creation for a sample.
4. Once you are comfortable with moving pills here and there and creating a dashboard. Goto http://www.vizwiz.com/
5. Start with Workout Wednesday. This would help you get comfortable with the skills you learned.
6. After 6-7 Workout Wednesdays, Move to http://www.makeovermonday.co.uk/. This would allow you to challenge yourself with little guidance.

keep practising until you get perfect. The world of Tableau is really exciting. Connect with people with Tableau skills on LinkedIn and share your viz with them.

Tableau is continuously evolving and you never know what wonders you can do with it.

Happy Vizzing!
